I'm a Graphic Designer an Illustrator a Front End Developer a Content Creator

Welcome to my art portfolio! Here you'll find a collection of my work, showcasing my skills in design and illustration. Feel free to explore and reach out if you're interested in collaborating or commissioning a piece.

About Me

Hello, hello! My name is Justin, but I go by the online handle Azaeath, or Azzy for short. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator based in Memphis, Tennessee. I specialize in creating digital art and designs for a variety of purposes, including branding, marketing, and personal projects.

I've been creating art since I was a kindergartner, and my passion for creativity has only grown over the years. I love exploring new techniques and styles, and I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills, particularly because I like the challenge of learning how to apply newly acquired skills in a way that enhances what I already know.

You can usually find me streaming on Twitch, where I share my creative process and connect with other artists and creatives. I'm also occasionally active on social media, where I share my work and try to avoid doom scrolling through other people's artwork because of how nice it all is. 😭

As a military veteran with depression and PTSD, I understand and take very seriously the importance of mental health and self-care. I used to try to cope by throwing myself into my work, but I've learned that it's important to take breaks and prioritize my well-being, so I may decline commissions or collaborations if I'm not feeling up to it or if I feel that I won't be able to deliver my best work. I hope you can understand.

Aside from all that, I'm just a regular person who loves art and creativity. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing video games, and picking up new hobbies. I also like to keep things light-hearted, if I can help it, and I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me! 😊

My Work

Previous Design Work

Most of this is going to be things I either did for my Twitch channel or because of work that I gained through live streaming, such as emotes, avatars, or live stream widgets. Click on any of the images to bring up a larger view and learn more about each one.

Recent Illustrations & Practices

Here you'll find a selection of my recent projects, showcasing my skills in illustration. A few of these were practice pieces that I was simply proud of because they pushed me outside of my comfort zone and allowed me to experiment with things I used to be hesitant to try, such as covering lines, or omitting them altogether, and drawing backgrounds with my characters, something I haven't really done much of since I was a high schooler. Class Materials

Here you'll find a selection of my class materials, demonstrating key concepts and techniques in graphic design and illustration that my former students found helpful in their creative pursuits. Click on any of the images to bring up a larger view and learn more about each one.

Overlay Widget Project

Currently ongoing as of 2025-11-09

Image 1
I started working on this project in the past month as I've been learning more about JavaScript and how to create interactive elements for my live streams. The goal is to move from concept to a interactive experience that I can then diversify into themes.

Current Overlay Still

I'm still not settled on it, but this works for now.

Image 2
This is the current overlay I use for my Twitch live streams. It's mostly built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a dynamic setup that you don't typically get from traditional graphic design. I'm not entirely content with how it looks, but it's functional for now, and it was a result of a valuable learning experience

Gaia Online Profile

If you know what this is, I was just as surprised as you that it still exists.

Image 3
To my surprise, I found that Gaia Online was still an active community. Along with MySpace, and I know I sound like my older peers saying that, this was one of the platforms that inspired me to pursue web design and development. This profile layout was the result of what I learned up to that point of graduating college with my BFA in Fine Arts, and it ended up being a valuable stepping stone for me learning more CSS.

Tanuki Badges

I'm still happy with these to this day.

Image 4
I created these badges as a fun side project, and I'm still proud of how they turned out. They were designed to be used on my Twitch channel, and I think they really capture what we were going for with the theme at the time. I've since then been working on developing more ideas that align with these.

Tanuki Badge Redesign

These didn't quite stick, but I like the outcome, regardless.

Image 5
I made these when I was worried about the original tanuki badges not being well-received over time. While they didn't quite stick, I like the outcome, regardless. People ended up liking the originals for their perceived cuteness and simplicity.

Tanuki Girl Emotes

These emotes are still in use. Some more than others. 😅

Image 6
I created these emotes for my Twitch channel, and they have become quite popular among my viewers. Some of them are used more frequently than others because of the silly ideas behind them. I remember when I made these, I was having a lot easier time coming up with more and more illustration ideas. These days, I feel like I'm stuck unable to finalize anything.

Chibi PNG Tuber Designs

We still use these, but we ran into some bugs on the platform.

Image 7
These designs were created for my PNG Tuber avatar and those of my friends, and while we still use them, we've encountered some bugs on the platform that have temporarily affected their functionality. Despite the issues, I'm proud of how these turned out and they still represent my brand well.

Wedding Monogram

They didn't like the wing shaped filigree, but I did.

Image 8
I created this monogram for a wedding invitation, and while the clients didn't like the wing-shaped filigree, I thought it added a nice touch because of the bird it was based on and what it symbolized. Ultimately, I delivered the final product without it, but I still think the original design had merit, so I wanted to display it here.

Garcia Portrait Practice

This was actually my second attempt.

Image 9
I honestly don't remember who the subject was because I didn't save the file with anything other than the person's last name. I believe I found the model used as the subject when I was looking for some images on Pinterest for reference, and I really wanted to draw a portrait of someone for some practice because people and portraits are one of my favorite subject matters.

Colored Illustration Practice

These titles are uninspired, I know.

Image 10
This is actually an unfinished piece that I was using to practice my application of color and to get away from the habit of heavily relying on lines to establish boundaries. It's not a finished work in the sense that I would normally quaiify one of my own, but I felt it was good enough to show as an example of the extent that I would take a practice piece before calling the practice, itself, done.

Spider Concept

I had a decent amount of fun creating this one.

Image 11
This was actually part of a piece done with a friend, wherein we both tried to design a spider suit for Miles Morales after my friend compared his look in one of his video games to a tube of toothpaste. My idea was based around the concept of his electrical powers being integrated into his suit with an emphasis on a relation to modern technology and circuitry.

Magma Illustration Practice

I spent some time experimenting with quick monochromatic studies.

Image 12
This was a piece I did on Magma, using a reference from a board I created on Pinterest. This was during a point in my teaching career where I was trying to demonstrate to my students how focusing on gesture and form, with a limited palette, could help them to produce their ideas with more speed and get away from the idea that everything needs to be a highly detailed, finished piece.

Adventure Time Fan Art

This is still one of my favorites, even though I did it a while back.

Image 13
This is a piece I did a few years ago, maybe around 2021, when I was first starting out on Twitch, looking to reach Affiliate status. It was one of the few projects I've done wherein I actually took the time to draw a background, something I've been neglecting since my time in college, since I prefer to draw characters more than environments.

Krypto Sketch

Up, up, and away!

Image 14
This is a sketch I decided to do when I didn't know what else to draw, and my friend, who has since passed, was watching Smallville. While she was watching, I was reminded of the cartoon show about Superman's dog that I used to watch as a kid. I decided to do a study of one of the images I found on the internet, since drawing animals isn't something I do often.

Apples Drawing Demo

My students hated these. 🤭

Image 15
This is a drawing I did as a live demonstration in front of my students, focusing on silhouette and lighting techniques. I wanted to demonstrate to them that even with the two fundamentals of shape and lighting, you can create a compelling image without needing to rely on intricate details. This was part of a series of demonstrations aimed at helping them understand these concepts more deeply.

Wine on Table Demo

My students hated this one even more. The original had grapes that I omitted for them. 😂

Image 16
We had a fun time in class with this one because they swore I was trying to do them dirty by having them draw glass bottles and grapes. To be fair, I had them working from an image instead of live objects. They would've really hated me if they had to draw the original setup from varying angles. 🤭

One Point Perspective Demo

My students found this one challenging.

Image 17
This is a demonstration I did to help my students understand one-point perspective. We discussed the importance of vanishing points and how they can be used to create depth in a drawing. The students had a hard time grasping the concept at first, but with some practice, a decent number of them started to get the hang of it. Some still struggled with the concept in the end.

Two Point Perspective Demo

My students found this one even more challenging.

Image 18
This is a demonstration I did to help my students understand two-point perspective. We explored how objects can be represented in three-dimensional space using two vanishing points. The students found this concept even more challenging than one-point perspective, but with guidance and practice, many of them were able to grasp the basics. We still had a few laughs throughout the process because they swore this was some stuff I was just coming up with out of nowhere. 😂

Wireframe and Breakdown

This was when my students just started giving up.

Image 19
This is a demonstration I did to help my students understand wireframing and breakdown techniques. We discussed the importance of planning and structure in making a web page. Unfortunately, many students found this approach overwhelming and struggled to apply it effectively. The major roadblock for many of them was the idea of coding, something they viewed as daunting and for people they viewed as "smarter" than they considered themselves able to become, which led many to just throw their hands up and not try.

Slime Typography Demo

Boy, did they hate typography.

Image 20
My students had a habit of over-complicating everything that I gave to them, which made it difficult for them to focus on the core concepts. This often led to frustration and confusion, as they struggled to grasp the fundamental ideas I was trying to teach. This example was given along with an exercise to see just what they were thinking when approaching this, allowing me to give feedback as needed to those who were struggling. I ultimately found that the reason for the struggles was that they weren't practicing anything that I had taught them prior, especially the use of vector tools, which was essential to their understanding and completion of the material.

Services

I'm currently not accepting commissions, as I'm looking for full-time, remote work opportunities to help balance my personal and professional life. As stated in my about me section, I prioritize my mental health and well-being these days, and I may decline projects if I'm not feeling up to it or if I feel that I won't be able to deliver results. I'd rather deliver my best work on fewer projects than take on too much and risk burnout. Thank you for your understanding!

In the meantime, feel free to reach out to me by email if you have any questions or if you'd like to discuss potential collaborations in the future. My email is azaeath@gmail.com.
